The 2005 race is now over, and it was as good as ever. We even had great weather this year. Next year promises to be even better, so stud up your tires, and get ready for next years race.
The 2005 results and pictures are now up, so take a look.
The Big Sturgeon Ice Invitational is an autocross style race on a frozen lake in Northern Minnesota. Each driver runs his car against the clock hoping to run the fastest time of the day, the fastest in his class, or
at least as fast as they dare.
The race is neither dangerous or slow. With studded tires and an open lake, you can go fast, without worry of hitting much besides the cones that mark the track.
Whether you want to run your daily driver, your rally car, motorcycle, or snowmobile, there is a class for you. While the fastest vehicles run studs; street tires, ice "picks", blizzaks, or ice skates are all acceptable. In the past we've seen a huge variety of vehicles including Mitsubishi EVOs, Subaru WRXs, Toyota MR2s, Ford Mustangs, studded dirt bikes, a studded Yamaha R6, a plethora of snowmobiles, even a school bus. Most people, however, race their daily driver, whether it's a Ford Fiesta or a Dodge 4x4 pickup. Run what you brung!
This is an invitational event, so you won't find any details of time or date here. So how do you get an invitation? You can start by emailing the organizer C.O. Rudstrom
